Dragon age where is branka journal

I have been everywhere in Caridin's Cross, know where the three exits are, but none of them brings up the map tag to go to the trenches. Don't have an account?

User Info: strangecity. I just read in a faq it's at Ortan Thaig, but I don't have that on my map to travel too. How do I get Ortan Thaig to appear on my map? I sided with lord harrowmont if that makes a difference or not. I retraced myself back taking my squad with me - visible and sure enough, there was that "corrupted spider" standing there.

I couldn't activate the spider get a red circle under it so I used Morrigan to hit it with a firebolt. Apparently that spider is what held up the works. So I reloaded my save from the beginning of Ortan Thaig. Eventually the journal was readable. This might apply elsewhere. Ortan Thaig - Can't read Branka's Journal to proceed. If you do decide to search the thaig, check your minimap for red dots.
