Why does metro last light lag

Report Post. Just joined the forum because I finally fixed this problem on my computer today. I couldn't find any solution to this issue more recent than a year or two ago. The one idea I hadn't thought about was a driver issue. I assumed my new GTX had the best drivers and would be perfect to handle nvidia features like physx. When I ran the benchmark for metro my framerate would drop to about fps the moment the big explosion happens, about a minute and a half in.

Didn't matter if I had settings maxed out or on medium. Every time "advanced physx" was enabled I would get completely unplayable framerates at that point in the benchmark. I decided to update my drivers since the fix mentioned in the older thread I found was to use an older driver 9.

My system was already running this driver so I updated to the newest driver which mentioned a fix for metro. It worked! I can have everything on very high and get a playable framerate in p on my tv avg , about the same as on my x monitor.

With motion blur on low I get slightly better. There's no doubt that the physx slows it down, but it looks beautiful and it's playable now. The game just plays better in general.

Aside from the horrible lag caused by the driver issue, it seems like I kinda have to choose between SSAA and advanced physx. Each one can cause about a 10fps drop for me. With everything on high it's playable, but definately better with one off. I prefer to have the physx cause I just love eye candy at that seems to be more noticable to me than the SSAA, but that's just me. The card is running on its second bios setting L2N mode with a flashed bios which allows for higher clocks as the original one supplied by EVGA is beyond terrible for this card.

I get over fps on max graphics, x at hz 3D screen almost all the time. In fact in some levels it never went below However if I turn on Advanced PhysX it goes down to like This card is as seen more than capable of running this game into the triple digit fps figures, just because Nvidia can't be arsed to do a PhysX driver properly doesn't mean we should all spend extra cash just to run the thing. I can confirm having this issue myself.

Can OP give his system specificatons? I want to know if my system is similarly build. AMD FX 8 core processor with 3. I do have a cintiq 13 hd plugged in but the first time I played the game it ran fine, no matter the cintiq or not. I know drawing tablets tend to give some games trouble but this can't be it.

When this happens my framerate reaches a cripping fps. If I enter the game and go into any of the main menu UIs like for example New Game , my fps drops too. I mostly play on Ranger Hardcore mode tho, so I barely suffer from framerate drops.

There are random times where the UI elements don't affect my framerate anymore for that entire game session until I restart the game, then they will reappear again. I have no idea what triggers the bad fps related to the UI. My main desktop PC doesn't experience any of these issues. I thought that the double GPU setup Nvidia Optimus , that my laptop has, was causing the issue but apparently that isn't the case since you are using a solo dedicated GPU.
